The Arizona AHEC Director consults regularly with two advisory committees:
- The Arizona AHEC Advisory Commission, whose appointed members represent health educators, health professionals, and community members serving and/or living in rural and medically underserved communities throughout Arizona.
- The Arizona Health Sciences Center Faculty Advisory Committee, whose members represent the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson, College of Medicine – Phoenix, College of Nursing, College of Pharmacy, and Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health.
Each AHEC regional center has its own appointed governing board, comprised of healthcare providers and consumers who reflect the diversity of the populations living within that center's geographic area. Additionally, the President (or equivalent) of each regional center's board serves as an ex-officio on the Arizona AHEC Advisory Commission.
